Terms of Service
Last updated: April 30, 2026 · Version 2026-04-30
Thesis is an AI software tool. It is not financial advice.
Thesis is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, or fiduciary. Nothing the product shows you, the AI says, or the website publishes constitutes investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security or asset, or a determination that trading is suitable for your specific financial situation. Use Thesis only as an automation and analysis tool — not as a substitute for your own research, judgment, or licensed advice from a qualified professional.
Read these Terms in full alongside our Risk Disclaimer before connecting a live brokerage account.
1. Thesis is a tool, not a fiduciary
Thesis is software. It detects candlestick patterns, calls a third-party large language model for a probabilistic take/skip opinion, and routes orders to your broker account on your behalf. That is the entire scope of the service.
Thesis does not, and cannot, provide:
- Investment advice or recommendations to buy, sell, or hold any security, crypto asset, or financial instrument.
- A determination that trading, day trading, or any specific strategy is suitable for your circumstances, risk tolerance, time horizon, or financial goals.
- Tax, legal, accounting, retirement, or financial-planning advice.
- A custodial relationship — your broker holds your funds; we never do.
- A fiduciary relationship of any kind.
Your broker (currently Alpaca Markets) is the broker-dealer of record for every order. Thesis is the software that submits the order on your authorization. If you need actual advice, talk to a licensed investment adviser, broker, or financial planner.
2. The AI is a probabilistic tool — not a forecaster
The "AI" in Thesis is a third-party large language model that produces a take/skip opinion and a confidence number on each candidate trade. It is a probabilistic pattern-matcher operating on numeric features and recent price history. It is not:
- Connected to live news beyond what we explicitly feed it.
- Aware of your tax situation, retirement timeline, or personal finances.
- A predictor of future market direction in any individual case.
- Capable of distinguishing strategies that work from those that have worked recently.
- An adviser. It is a software function. Treat its outputs as one input you can choose to act on or ignore.
The AI can be confidently wrong, can be wrong in correlated ways across many trades in a row, and can change behavior when its provider releases an updated model. High AI confidence is not a guarantee of profit. Low AI confidence is not a guarantee that the trade would have lost money. The full AI risk discussion lives in the Risk Disclaimer and its terms are incorporated here by reference.
3. You operate the tool — every trade is your decision
You configure Thesis. You connect your broker. You select autopilot, copilot, or manual mode. You set risk parameters. You acknowledge the Pattern Day Trader rule if you choose to unlock day trading. Every order placed on your broker account — whether triggered manually, copilot-approved, or autopilot-executed — is a trade you have authorized by configuring the system the way you have. You bear the consequences.
- Keep your broker API credentials confidential.
- Understand that trading involves substantial risk of loss, including total loss of capital.
- Never trade money you can't afford to lose entirely.
- You remain responsible for every order regardless of mode.
- Comply with all SEC, FINRA, broker, and tax rules that apply to you.
- Monitor your own day-trade count across all accounts; Thesis only sees activity on the connected account.
4. No guarantees
Past performance does not guarantee future results. Pattern detection, AI evaluations, and market data may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Thesis is provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind, express or implied.
5. You assume all trading loss
By using Thesis you agree that any financial loss you incur — from trades the AI took, trades the AI skipped, missed entries or exits, slippage, broker outages, software bugs, market data errors, AI mistakes, or any other cause — is your sole responsibility. You waive any claim against Thesis, its operators, its employees, and its third-party providers for trading losses to the maximum extent permitted by law. Your sole remedy with respect to the service is cancellation of your subscription.
6. No financial, legal, or tax advice
Re-stating because it matters: nothing produced by Thesis — the pattern feed, the AI confidence scores, the AI reasoning text, the autopilot decisions, the email digests, the marketing pages, the settings recommendations, the support replies, or any other output of the service — is investment advice, financial advice, tax advice, or legal advice.
Thesis is software you operate. Whether to trade, what to trade, how much to trade, when to enter, when to exit, what tax treatment applies to your gains and losses, and whether the strategy is suitable for your circumstances are decisions you make on your own or with the help of a licensed professional you have retained. Treat any AI output as one informational input among many — not as a recommendation, not as guidance, not as a substitute for due diligence.
If you don't understand a feature, a setup, a position size, or a risk parameter, the correct response is to not trade until you do — not to rely on the AI to figure it out for you.
7. Subscription & billing
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time; access continues through the end of the paid period. Annual subscriptions are billed in full up front and are non-refundable for partial years.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use Thesis for market manipulation, spoofing, wash trading, or anything that violates SEC, FINRA, or broker rules. Don't attempt to scrape, resell, reverse-engineer, or otherwise circumvent the service.
9. Account termination
You can delete your Thesis account at any time, with no fee and no requirement to contact us first. Open the app, go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and submit. Email/password users re-enter their password; Google sign-in users authorize via their active session.
When you delete:
- Your encrypted broker API keys are securely overwritten then deleted.
- Any active Thesis subscription is cancelled with Stripe — no further charges.
- Your trade history, AI decisions, settings, and account record are erased.
- Open positions on your broker account remain open — manage them in your broker dashboard.
- Billing records at Stripe and email delivery logs at Resend may persist briefly per their retention policies.
You can also email privacy@thesistrade.app to request deletion if you cannot access the app. We process the request within 30 days.
Termination by us: we may suspend or terminate your account for violation of section 8 (Acceptable use), failure to pay, or a credible request from a regulator or law-enforcement body with jurisdiction. We will notify you by email when feasible.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thesis is not liable for trading losses, missed trades, data errors, downtime, or any consequential, incidental, special, exemplary, or punitive damages. In no event shall Thesis's aggregate liability under these Terms exceed the amount you paid Thesis in the three months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms or the Risk Disclaimer when the product or law changes. Material updates will bump the version date at the top of this page. Continued use of Thesis after a material update constitutes acceptance of the new terms; we may require explicit re-acknowledgment for significant changes.
