Welcome to Thesis
AI-reasoned algorithmic trading for small accounts. Start here for setup, concepts, and the differences between paper and live mode.
Thesis is an AI-reasoned algorithmic trading platform built for small accounts. You bring your own broker keys (“BYOK”), and Thesis runs a pattern + news + AI pipeline against your account.
This documentation covers everything you need to get from “first signup” to “running live with real money.”
Start here
- Getting started — sign up, connect a broker, take your first trade.
- Paper vs. live mode — what changes when you flip from practice to real money. Read this before connecting a live key.
- Connecting an Alpaca API key — step-by-step for paper and live keys.
Concepts you’ll want to understand
- How fees work — how Thesis tracks broker fees, why crypto fees look different from equity, and the difference between modeled (paper) and broker-reported (live) fees.
- Connecting Kraken (coming soon) — multi-venue support for crypto traders who want spot-Kraken pricing instead of Alpaca’s spread.
A note on what Thesis is and isn’t
Thesis is a software tool you control, not a financial advisor and not a discretionary fund. Every trade runs through your broker account, on your keys. We don’t custody funds and we can’t see your balances except through the keys you provide.
Trading involves real risk of loss. AI decisions can be wrong. Losses are yours to bear. Read the Risk Disclaimer before using live mode.
